Andrew Bullock – Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of 1834 Hotels Andrew brings significant business management experience in the tourism sector: hotels, motels & resorts. With more than 20 years of experience, he has a demonstrated track record of maximizing revenue and increasing profit within a highly competitive market and is instrumental in acquisitions, growth management, operational goals and personnel relations. Andrew is a motivated leader with proven ability to manage operations, analyse financial statements and devise key business strategies to stimulate revenue growth. Andrew is also a deputy vice president and council member of the AHA SA, Chair of the TAA SA and Chair of the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Leigh Kentwell – Managing Partner – Business Development
Leigh has over 15 years of hotel sales, marketing and business management experience and has strong background in many facets of business. Leigh has worked on successful new hotel openings, hotel brand rejuvenations and asset management for a number of franchised and independent hotels. He brings a unique and diverse skill set that enables him to think outside the box with strategic sales, marketing and revenue strategies that can be applied across different market segments to improve and grow asset profitability for owners.
Robert Maynard – Group General Manager
Robert is the Group General Manager of 1834 Hotels and brings with him over 30 years of industry experience with a unique blend of theory and practical knowledge across hotel operations.
With a Master of Business Administration and a Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment, Robert was actively involved as a director and hotel operator of a national hotel management company embedded within the Accor, Rydges and Flag Choice hotel networks.
Prior to his role with 1834 Hotels, Robert was team leader and principal of Corporate Ascent, a multi-disciplinary team within the business and marketing sector, as well as lecturer at Flinders University and Adelaide Institute of TAFE.
Ben Patten – Director of Sales & Marketing
Ben joined 1834 Hotels after almost 20 years with AccorHotels leading hotels in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and New Zealand. Holding a Diploma in Hospitality Management, Ben is an internationally experienced hotelier with a specific focus on Sales, Marketing, Digital and overall Hotel Performance. He led some key business for AccorHotels including the 500+ room Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen in Singapore, the newly opened Mercure Bali Nusa Dua and the historic Mercure Grosvenor Hotel in Adelaide.
Beginning his 1834 Hotels journey in 2018 as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Mayfair and Adabco Hotels in Adelaide, Ben has moved to the group Director of Sales and Marketing role in May 2019.

Luke Rayner – Director of Revenue & Distribution
Luke Rayner is the Director of Revenue and Distribution for 1834 Hotels. With over 15 years of experience in the hotel industry, the past decade has been solely dedicated to revenue management. He has the proven ability to increase RevPAR in both large established hotels and independent operations, in CBD and regional locations by establishing and implementing relevant Revenue Management principles. He specialises in demand forecasting, dynamic pricing and competitor analysis, as well as presenting to management teams and stakeholder groups.
Since joining 1834 Hotels in 2012, his team have introduced revenue management practices to over 20 new properties. These practices included implementation of a range of new systems including PMS’s and channel managers as well as rate shopping and Revenue Management tools. Prior to 1834 Hotels Luke previously worked for Accor, Mantra and independents.
Bianca Sowik – Director of Strategic Projects
Bianca is a dedicated tourism and hospitality professional with more than 15 years of industry experience. In her previous role as Director of Operations, Bianca oversaw the operations of the managed properties in the 1834 Hotels network. Bianca’s key skills and experience include stakeholder management, product development, performance and people management, strategic planning, reputation management, procurement, project management, problem solving, and business process improvement. She has a keen eye for detail and is passionate about delivering profitable operations with an exceptional customer experience.
Bianca has also previously held Business Development and Marketing roles with Country Club Hotels & Resorts, Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism (South Australian Tourism Commission) and Phil Hoffmann Travel.
Sharni King – Director of People, WHS & Compliance
Sharni has over fifteen years’ experience in the hospitality industry, with the past ten years dedicated to Human Resources and Work, Health and Safety Management. Her passions are working with people to achieve goals, creating a safe, productive and inclusive work environment, promoting the importance of employee contribution, and developing effective teams through collaboration. Her drive to build a positive work environment, be responsible and accountable, provide opportunities for training and development as well as fostering appreciation and empathy in the workplace are traits that make Sharni a comprehensive Human Resources practitioner. Sharni has strong communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to implement productivity practices that can improve overall profitability and the capability to handle complex issues with tact and discretion across all levels of a business.
Sam Parker – Director of Finance
Sam has over 13 years of accounting and business management experience. Working in a role overseeing the financial management of over 20 hotels throughout Australia, Sam has been with 1834 Hotels since April 2017 as the Director of Finance. Responsible for the financial functions and reporting of the hotels, Sam has played a key role in implementing a range of automated and integrated reporting tools across the network.
Previously, Sam worked as a Management Accountant at Northline Pty Ltd, one of Australia’s largest privately-owned freight operators. Sam was a financial analyst for the global machinery manufacturer Toro and also has taxation and business services experience with BDO Australia and Pitcher Partners.
